The Labor Union of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) presented awards to outstanding teams and athletes at the 2026 Sports Festival for faculty and staff while launching a series of emulation activities in celebration of the University's 70th anniversary.

On July 29, the IUH Labor Union held the Award Ceremony for the 2026 Sports Festival for faculty and staff and officially launched activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the University's establishment.

Overall team awards were presented to the top-performing units at the 2026 IUH Sports Festival Award Ceremony.
 

The event was attended by Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong, Vice Rector; Dr. Le Ngoc Son, Chairman of the IUH Labor Union; members of the Labor Union Executive Committee; representatives of affiliated union chapters; and more than 500 faculty and staff members who participated in this year's Sports Festival.

The Sports Festival featured over 500 athletes competing in nine events, including football, volleyball, badminton, and cross country running. At the conclusion of the competition, the Organizing Committee presented 76 awards to outstanding teams and individuals. The Service Office won the Overall Championship, and the National Defense and Physical Education Center finished as Overall Runner-up. At the same time, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Technology, the Faculty of Business Administration, and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering jointly received Third Prize in the overall standings.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Le Ngoc Son said the sports Festival is one of the Labor Union's key annual activities to promote the well-being of union members and employees while providing opportunities for faculty and staff to improve their physical fitness and strengthen collegial bonds through sport. He noted, "The Sports Festival also reaffirms the Labor Union's role as a bridge between the University and its employees, while fostering a spirit of dedication and healthy competition through meaningful cultural and sporting activities."

In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong commended the Labor Union for its thorough preparation and successful organization of the event, as well as the enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and solidarity demonstrated by all participants. He expressed his hope that the University's sporting movement would continue to grow, contributing to a dynamic, collaborative, and engaging working and learning environment.

Throughout the competition, the Sports Festival served not only as a platform for athletic competition but also as an opportunity for faculty members, staff, and affiliated units to connect and encourage one another. Many faculty members remained on the playing fields after working hours to support their colleagues. At the same time, students enthusiastically cheered on the competitors, creating a vibrant atmosphere across the campus during the event.

Organized as part of the activities celebrating the 97th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026), the 2026 Sports Festival promoted physical fitness, strengthened solidarity among university units, and fostered a spirit of unity and healthy competition throughout IUH. The event also marked the launch of a series of activities leading up to the University's 70th anniversary, inspiring faculty and staff to continue contributing to IUH's sustainable development.
