Introduction
The Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion was established on December 1, 2001. It is a training unit with the mission of providing high-quality human resources for enterprises in the garment and fashion industry. The Faculty manages training programs from college to undergraduate levels in two majors: Garment Technology and Fashion Design.
During its development, the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion has continuously grown and strengthened. With a team of young and qualified lecturers with practical experience, the curriculum system is constantly updated and improved. Facilities such as classrooms and practice workshops are modern and large-scale, with equipment regularly upgraded and diversified to match industry development. Graduates of the Garment and Fashion programs are currently working in most garment manufacturing and fashion enterprises across the country and are highly appreciated and trusted by employers.
In line with the training tradition of an application-oriented university, students of the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion are equipped with fundamental and specialized knowledge closely associated with real production practices, suitable to the technological level of Vietnam and the needs of society.
Functions and Responsibilities
As an academic and administrative unit of the University, the Faculty directly performs tasks such as training programs from college to undergraduate levels in Garment Technology and Fashion Design; managing, compiling, updating, and developing curricula and textbooks; conducting scientific research, applications, and technology transfer in the field of garment and fashion; and cooperating with domestic and international universities for undergraduate and postgraduate training programs.
Faculty and Staff
Currently, the Faculty has 35 staff members, including: 1 Associate Professor, 9 PhDs, 5 doctoral candidates, 18 master's degree holders, and 2 engineers.
Activities and Outstanding Achievements
Over the past 20 years, the Faculty has trained more than 1,500 engineering graduates and 2,000 college graduates for society. Currently, approximately 1,500 students are studying at all levels of the Faculty.
In recent years, lecturers of the Faculty have successfully led and implemented 5 ministerial-level scientific research projects and 12 university-level research projects, and have published 52 scientific articles in domestic and international journals related to the discipline. In 2021, the Garment Technology program achieved AUN-QA accreditation.
Students of the Garment Technology and Fashion Design programs have also achieved many successes in national competitions such as:
◦ 4 First Prizes in the National Fashion Design Competition;
◦ 1 First Prize in the National Skills Competition 2008;
◦ 1 Second Prize in the National Skills Competition 2010;
◦ 3 Gold Medals in the Ministry of Industry and Trade Skills Competition (2004, 2006, 2008);
◦ 3 Gold Medals in the Dong Nai Skills Competition (2006, 2008, 2010);
◦ 3 Gold Medals in the Ho Chi Minh City Skills Competition (2006, 2008, 2010);
◦ 1 First Prize in the Fascen Collection Competition 2009;
◦ 1 First Prize in the Triumph Lingerie Design Competition 2012;
◦ 1 First Prize in the Aquafina Pure Fashion Competition 2014;
◦ 1 First Prize in the Cotton USA Fashion Design Contest 2017.
