Introduction
The Faculty of Electrical Technology is one of the earliest faculties established at the University, previously known as the Electrical Division. Through many years of development together with the growth of the University, the Faculty of Electrical Technology has continuously remained one of the leading faculties in teaching, scientific research, industry collaboration, and investment in modern laboratories. In addition, cultural activities, sports, and volunteer programs serving the community are strongly supported by the Faculty Board, lecturers, and students. Most lecturers in the faculty are professionally trained at reputable universities both domestically and internationally and regularly participate in training programs to improve teaching methods. The Faculty currently owns more than 30 practice rooms and laboratories, many of which are equipped with modern and high‑value equipment. The Faculty includes four departments: Electrical Engineering Fundamentals, Power Supply and Power Systems, Automation, and Electrical Equipment. With the mission of providing high‑quality human resources in Electrical Engineering and Automation for society, the faculty continuously improves teaching methods, updates training programs, and invests in modern laboratories to fulfill this mission. The faculty strives to become not only a leading faculty within the University but also in the Southern region of Vietnam.
Functions and Responsibilities
The Faculty of Electrical Technology offers two main majors: Electrical Engineering and Automation Control. The Faculty is steadily affirming its reputation with the principle of placing learners at the center, where learning is always closely connected with practical application and scientific research.
Faculty and Staff
The Faculty of Electrical Technology consists of 63 staff members, including 11 PhD holders, 4 doctoral candidates, 33 master's degree holders, and 15 bachelor's degree holders.
Activities and Achievements
- In 2014, the Faculty developed the Electrical Engineering and Automation Control program based on the CDIO approach.
- In 2015, the Faculty launched the Automation Control Technology major and an advanced Electrical Engineering program. In 2016, the Faculty opened a Master's program in Electrical Engineering.
- The Faculty is working toward accreditation of two programs according to the AUN-QA standards, focusing on ensuring the learning outcomes committed by the University.
- In industry collaboration activities, the Faculty has received support from major corporations: Fuji sponsored an Electrical Apparatus laboratory project, ANZ company sponsored an automatic cutting machine, ABB supported a switching laboratory, and Mitsubishi supported a PLC laboratory.
- Faculty members have published more than 25 international papers (SCI, SCIE) and 24 domestic journal publications.
- During the 2011–2015 academic years, 22 lecturers from the Faculty participated in teaching methodology innovation training programs at the University of Arizona, USA.
- The Faculty Youth Union actively organizes cultural, sports, and artistic activities and has consistently achieved excellent results. The Youth Union also implements the “Lighting up the Green Summer” volunteer program in Vinh Long, installing and upgrading electrical systems for hundreds of households and building charity houses.
- From 2010 to 2015, students of the Faculty won 16 first and second prizes in competitions organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ho Chi Minh City; one student won the national skills competition first prize and another won third prize at the ASEAN level.

- To become one of the leading centers in application‑oriented education, scientific research, and technology transfer in Vietnam and the region.
- To train high‑quality human resources through programs meeting national, regional (AUN), and international (ABET) standards, and to conduct scientific research and technology transfer contributing to Vietnam’s industrialization and modernization.
