Introduction
The Faculty of Thermal Engineering and Refrigeration Technology was established in 2008. The predecessor of the Faculty was the Refrigeration Technology Center (2003–2008) and the Thermal Engineering Division under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (2005–2008).
The Faculty of Thermal Engineering and Refrigeration Technology provides modern and practice‑oriented training programs that emphasize both theoretical knowledge and applied practical skills. The programs equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes necessary to become future engineers and technical specialists, meeting the demand for highly qualified human resources for enterprises.
Functions
- Develop strategic plans for training programs in thermal engineering technology, energy engineering technology, and energy management in accordance with the University’s mission and development goals.
- Organize and implement teaching and learning activities according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the University, ensuring that graduates meet learning outcomes aligned with industry and societal needs.
- Conduct scientific research and technology transfer related to refrigeration and energy engineering while collaborating with educational institutions, research institutes, and enterprises in scientific research and technological applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Developing training development strategies for thermal and energy engineering programs:
- Adjust training curricula to meet enterprise requirements and international integration.
- Lead the development and registration of proposals for new training programs related to thermal and energy engineering.
- Develop plans for faculty staff development.
- Develop plans for investment in facilities and laboratory equipment for teaching and research.
- Coordinate with related units to promote and introduce thermal engineering and energy engineering programs.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with alumni and enterprises to gather feedback on training programs, lecturer quality, learning conditions, and graduate competencies, thereby improving and updating the curriculum.
- Implement comprehensive training tasks covering knowledge, skills, and attitudes for students in thermal engineering and energy programs to meet enterprise and societal demands.
- Plan academic year teaching schedules according to the University's general progress; conduct teaching as planned; manage the teaching discipline of lecturers and students; propose commendations and disciplinary actions for lecturers and students as per University regulations.
- Manage examination questions; plan and organize tests and exams ensuring the University's general progress; archive student academic results within the Faculty.
- Lead the preparation of textbooks, lectures, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
- Organize research and improve teaching methods to enhance training quality.
- Develop training and professional development plans for lecturers suitable to teaching requirements.
- Organize internships and practical experiences for students at enterprises.
- Manage and effectively utilize the Faculty's facilities and laboratory equipment; plan supplies and equipment for teaching.
- Organize training and professional development courses to meet enterprise and societal needs.
- Organize Faculty meetings and periodic scientific activities at the Faculty level.
- Create a conducive environment for learning and research for students and lecturers; link training with scientific research and application; encourage and develop scientific research and technology transfer activities among lecturers.
- Participate in domestic and international scientific conferences and publish articles in reputable scientific journals.
- Lead and coordinate with related units in exploiting cooperative projects domestically and internationally; organize specialized scientific seminars in refrigeration; solicit sponsorships for teaching and research equipment as well as scholarships for students.
Faculty and Staff
The Faculty of Thermal Engineering and Refrigeration Technology has a young, dynamic teaching staff actively participating in scientific research activities and has achieved certain accomplishments.
The total includes 25 full-time lecturers, 02 academic officers of the Faculty, 04 contracted lecturers, 02 visiting lecturers, including 03 Professors, 02 Associate Professors, 10 PhDs, 02 Research Fellows, 13 Masters, 01 Engineer, and 02 Bachelors.
Besides teaching, lecturers in the Faculty actively participate in scientific research projects at University, Provincial, Ministerial, and State levels. All lecturers are aware that scientific research is an indispensable duty of university lecturers, contributing significantly to enhancing lecturers' scientific capacity, improving training quality, and affirming the University's position and prestige in society.

Activities
Cooperate with many large enterprises in training, scientific research, and job introduction, typically including: Reetech, LG, Daikin, Panasonic, Bitzer, Grundfos, Mitsubishi, Ebara.
Lead and participate in scientific research projects at various levels, report at domestic and international scientific conferences, and write and publish many scientific articles in domestic and international journals listed in the ISI database.
Guide students in scientific research, Eureka, and participate in professional skill competitions at City, National, and International levels.

Outstanding Achievements
Achieved 01 Silver medal at the ASEAN skills competition, many Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals at City, Ministerial, and National skills competitions.
The Faculty has cooperated with the Center for Technology Research and Development - Industrial Machinery to successfully carry out a key national scientific research project: “Research, design, and manufacture of a technological line using rice husk to supply energy for milling complexes with a capacity of 6-10 tons/hour”.
The Faculty team has achieved many accomplishments in student sports and cultural activities: three consecutive years winning the First Prize in the overall competition, 01 Second Prize, and 01 Third Prize in University-level sports; second prize in the student football tournament of the Refrigeration Faculty at Universities.
Development Orientation
Gradually standardize the curriculum, content, and training methods according to international standards, aiming to achieve AUN-QA accreditation by 2020; improve professional qualifications and vocational skills of lecturers, targeting over 30% of lecturers holding PhDs by 2020; promote scientific research and technology transfer to enhance training quality.
Develop relationships, exchange and share teaching and research experiences with prestigious domestic and international universities, research institutes, and enterprises; strengthen cooperation with enterprises in supporting equipment for learning and scientific research as well as developing training programs and job introduction.
