Surpassing more than 1,500 students from 49 universities and academies across Vietnam, the team from Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) achieved a historic milestone by winning all of the highest honors in the Computer Applications in Machine Design category for the first time, while maintaining a 100% award-winning rate among its competitors.

On June 6, at the closing ceremony and award presentation of the 36th National Mechanics Olympiad for the Southern Region, students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City earned an impressive series of achievements, reaffirming the University's strength in educating and developing high-quality engineering talent.
This year's National Mechanics Olympiad attracted 1,545 students from 49 universities and academies nationwide, competing across eight disciplines. The Southern Region alone welcomed 606 contestants from 25 higher education institutions, making it the largest regional competition in the Olympiad's history.
Amid such intense competition, IUH students delivered an outstanding performance in the Computer Applications in Machine Design category, winning two First Prizes, one Second Prize, two Third Prizes, one Consolation Prize, and the Team First Prize. Remarkably, after only two years of participating in this category, the IUH team captured every top honor, from individual awards to the team championship, and became the first institution to have two students simultaneously win First Prize in a single competition season.
The team's achievements did not stop there. All six IUH students who competed received awards, maintaining a perfect 100% award-winning rate. Among them, three students ranked among the five highest-scoring contestants nationwide in the category.

In recognition of their contribution, the IUH coaching team also received the Organizing Committee's award for the group of lecturers whose students won First Prize.
According to Mr. Nguyễn Trường Giang, MSc., lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology and coach of the IUH team, the National Mechanics Olympiad is one of the most prestigious academic competitions for engineering students.
"This competition provides students with an opportunity to validate their knowledge, analytical thinking, and ability to solve engineering problems in a highly competitive environment. This year, more than 1,500 students from 49 universities and academies participated, making it the largest competition ever. Achieving top prizes under these circumstances was by no means easy."
Mr. Giang emphasized that the Olympiad's achievements are significant not only for the students themselves but also as evidence of the University's educational quality.
"For students, this is an opportunity to tackle advanced engineering problems, learn from experienced lecturers, and interact with outstanding peers from across the country. For the University, these results reflect the effectiveness of our long-term educational approach, which integrates scientific research with talent identification and development."
When asked to describe this year's IUH Mechanics Olympiad team, the coach chose two key words: "Creativity" and "Unity." "Our students continuously seek innovative learning approaches and strive to improve their professional skills. More importantly, they willingly support one another and share knowledge to achieve common goals as a team."
