On the morning of November 12, 2023, in Hall E4, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City joyously commemorated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Heat Refrigeration Engineering.
The celebration was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Le Chi Hiep, the Former Head of the Department of Heat Refrigeration Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hay, the Former Rector of HCMC University of Agriculture and Forestry, along with faculty members from the Refrigeration Departments of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Da Nang University of Technology, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.
Representatives from the corporate sector and alumni also attended, with notable figures such as Mr. Nguyen Le Vu from Johnson Controls Co., Ltd. - Hitachi Air Conditioning Vietnam and Mr. Adachi Satoshi from Panasonic Vietnam Company, along with several enterprises that have been steadfast companions over the recent years.

On behalf of IUH, Mr. Hoang Do, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University and Head of the Student Affairs Department, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Trung Thanh, Head of the Faculty of Refrigeration Technology, and all current and former faculty members, lecturers, and students associated with the Faculty, were in attendance.
During the Opening Remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Trung Thanh provided an overview of the distinctive features characterizing the formation and development of the Faculty of Heat Refrigeration Engineering over its 20-year journey. He expressed gratitude and conveyed a message to the dedicated teachers who have been integral to the Faculty's success. "Many teachers, both former and current, have been with the Faculty since its inception, contributing for many years. Even though some are no longer directly involved, their enduring support, monitoring, and willingness to share and assist in all activities are greatly appreciated by the Faculty. The Dean acknowledges and values this strong bond with the teachers."

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Do on behalf of the Party Committee of the University congratulated the contributions of the Faculty of Heat Refrigeration Engineering and its successes to the development and sustainability process of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.

Representing the generations of students from the Faculty of Heat Refrigeration Engineering, Pham Huu Minh Tam, an alumnus from Class DDHNL01 and the General Director of Vietnam Green Technology Joint Stock Company, shared his sentiments: "The Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City boasts a rich tradition in education, renowned not only for its modern and well-equipped facilities but also for nurturing high-quality professionals. It was here that I sowed the seeds of inspiration for learning, cultivating a mindset of continuous improvement and effectiveness. The Faculty of Heat Refrigeration Engineering is more than a center of knowledge; it is a haven of enthusiasm and boundless love, where we shape and develop ourselves."

During the ceremony, the Dean Board of the Faculty expressed their gratitude by presenting gifts to former leaders who had contributed significantly over the years. Additionally, they honored businesses that had sponsored and steadfastly supported the Faculty throughout its history.
Mr. Hoang Do and Mr. Bui Trung Thanh presented flowers of gratitude to enterprises that have accompanied the Faculty of Refrigeration Technology for many years.
In its remarkable journey of over 20 years, marked by resilience in the face of challenges, the Faculty of Refrigeration Technology at IUH has emerged as a distinguished institution for quality training in Thermal Engineering Technology in the southern region. It has successfully produced skilled Thermal Engineering Technology Engineers and Energy Engineering Technology Engineers.
The inception of the Refrigeration field traces back to 1996 when it originated as the Refrigeration profession within the Department of Industrial Electricity at Industrial College IV. By November 2003, the Department of Refrigeration gained independence from the Faculty of Electricity, evolving into a standalone department. On September 1, 2004, it officially became the Department of Refrigeration under the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, marking a pivotal moment that laid the groundwork for the establishment and growth of the Department of Heat and Refrigeration.
In its early stages, the Refrigeration team addressed the demand for technical workers during a period of industrial expansion. Despite limited facilities and an incomplete training program, the faculty primarily focused on civil refrigeration practices, lacking training equipment for industrial refrigeration. Through the dedication of the teaching team, by 2004, the faculty had developed a comprehensive applied training program.
By 2021, the Faculty achieved recognition from the network of leading universities in Southeast Asia for meeting AUN-QA standards. Presently, the faculty boasts a team comprising 2 Associate Professors with a Doctorate, 9 Ph.D. holders, 16 researchers with either a Master's degree or equivalent, and 1 engineer. The Faculty has contributed significantly to the education of over 5200 engineers, bachelor's degree holders, and technicians across various systems, with more than 2500 engineers having graduated to date. Impressively, 96% of these engineers secure employment within 12 months of graduation. The current enrollment stands at 1167 students.
