On 19/10/2022, at Military Zone 7 Stadium, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2022-2023, with the participation of more than 10,000 new students representing more than 36,000 students across the university. Attending the ceremony, the Ministry of Industry and Trade sent Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Diên - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Party Personnel Board, Minister of Industry and Trade, along with leaders of departments, central and local unions, partner units, international organizations,  businesses, sponsors, press agencies, Party Committees, School Committees, Executive Committees of Trade Unions, Youth Unions, Student Associations, administrators and lecturers of the whole school.

On behalf of the school leaders, Mr. Phan Hồng Hải - Secretary of the Party Committee, the Rector delivered the opening speech of the school year 2022 - 2023. Mr. Phan Hồng Hải congratulated the new students of IUH: "Congrats on officially becoming IUH students - becoming IUH citizens is your pride, your family's pride, and also the beginning of ambitions, and a new horizon. Thank you for trusting and choosing IUH – where the quality of training is honored. Thank you for coming to us and becoming the next generation, writing the golden pages of IUH's history over 65 years of construction and development."

Summarizing the school's activities, the Rector said that the school year 2021-2022 is a school year with many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, affecting the teaching and learning process of lecturers and students of the whole school, but teachers and students have achieved many proud results in all aspects.

According to Mr. Phan Hồng Hải, the results achieved in the past school year are an important foundation, creating favorable conditions for the school to perform well in the new school year. Accordingly, the most important goal of IUH is to improve the training quality and international integration, striving that by 2023, all of training programs of the school will be evaluated and accredited according to the AUN-QA and ABET standards.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the Party Cadre Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Diên - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Party Personnel Board, Minister of Industry and Trade sent good congratulations to teachers and students of IUH. He also commended the University for solidarity, creativity, efforts to strive, overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieve many positive and relatively comprehensive results in all aspects of work: Enrollment, teaching, scientific research and international cooperation, making important contributions to training, improve the quality of human resources in industry and trade, especially high-quality human resources, serving the cause of national construction and development. The Minister also asked the school team to pay attention to, perform 05 key tasks, always strive hard and unanimously, continue to strive and overcome difficulties and challenges to implement the tasks of teaching, learning, scientific research and achieve higher achievements in the new school year, worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, State and People towards the School.

Within the framework of the ceremony, the school also solemnly held a ceremony to award the accreditation of the training program according to ABET standards. In 2022, the school has 06 accreditation training programs meeting ABET standards including Biotechnology; Information Technology; Information Systems; Food Technology; Mechanical Engineering Technology; Machine building technology with a maximum time of 06 years. With this result, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City became the fifth university in Vietnam to achieve ABET accreditation and the first university with the highest number of ABET accreditation programs in the country.

Also in the morning, the Youth Union and the Student Union of the school organized a festival to welcome new students of the 18th cohort. The festival attracted more than 12,000 students. This is an annual playground for IUH students with Healthy Youth, Folk Games, Recycling Booth, Club/Team/Group Festival to inspire new students before entering the new school year.
