On the morning of September 5, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) held the opening ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year and welcomed more than 12,000 freshmen of Cohort 22.
The new academic year holds special significance as IUH marks 70 years of establishment and development (1956-2026). From its beginnings as a training institution, IUH has continued to expand opportunities for learning, research, innovation, and industry engagement, with students at the heart of its development.
Representatives from businesses and partner organizations included Ms. Trần Kiều Thương, Director of the Western Ho Chi Minh City Region at Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank; Ms. Nguyễn Thị Hương Giang, Director of Agribank Binh Phu Branch; Mr. Huỳnh Thanh Tùng, Director of BIDV Cho Lon Branch; Ms. Nguyễn Ngọc Hạnh Dung, Human Resources Director of Welkin Vietnam Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Nguyễn Đặng Thanh Tùng, Director of PVcomBank Go Vap Branch.
For freshman Nguyễn Thành Trọng, the University's top-performing student in the 2026 admission cycle, the ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter. Representing more than 12,000 first-year students of Cohort 22, Trọng shared:
"I am very happy and proud to become an IUH student today. In the years ahead, I want to build a strong academic foundation and also to actively gain new experiences, participate in research, and engage in activities that help me grow as a person. I will do my best to make my years at IUH a truly memorable journey."
As part of the ceremony, IUH honored 25 outstanding students from its academic units for their achievements during the 2025-2026 academic year and recognized nine students who achieved the highest admission results across different fields of study in the 2026 university admission cycle. Their achievements reflect IUH students' dedication and inspire the new academic year.
The University also expressed its appreciation to businesses that have supported IUH through educational cooperation, student internships, equipment sponsorship, and scholarships. Representatives of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Agribank Binh Phu Branch, BIDV Cho Lon Branch, Welkin Vietnam, and PVcomBank Go Vap Branch received commemorative plaques recognizing their contributions. Their partnership extends beyond scholarships and gifts for students, helping strengthen connections between the classroom and the labor market that students will enter after graduation.
The 2026-2027 academic year therefore begins with more than the traditional sound of the opening drum. For IUH, it also marks the beginning of a new generation of students in the University's 70th year, a generation expected to take greater ownership of their learning, embrace new experiences, and create meaningful value throughout the journey ahead.
