Under the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation Special Fund's international cooperation program, two lecturers from Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) joined an intensive training course on Circular Economy Management Processes and Sustainable Textile Innovations in Bangkok, Thailand.
Representing IUH were Ms. Phạm Tú Anh (School of Finance & Accounting) and Dr. Trần Nguyễn Tú Uyên (Faculty of Garment Technology & Fashion), who took part in the program from November 17–21, 2025. Their participation reflects the University’s integration-oriented approach to enhancing professional capacity, keeping up with emerging trends, and contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s textile and fashion industry.

During the opening session and in-depth modules, IUH lecturers, together with delegates from CLMVT countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand), discussed key issues related to the sustainable transformation of the textile industry. Topics focused on circular economy models and policies, sustainable production processes linked to waste management, requirements for carbon emission reduction, and international-standard emissions reporting. In addition, the program introduced emerging trends in sustainable materials development and emphasized the role of green supply chains in the context of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

The training course was coordinated by MASCI – the Thai Industrial Standards Institute under the Ministry of Industry of Thailand – and led by experts in standards, quality management, and textile innovation. Throughout the program, IUH lecturers shared insights on Vietnam’s textile industry from a higher education perspective, enriching cross-national discussions.
As part of the program, the delegation also visited Sabina Company, a leading Thai brand renowned for high-quality products, a strong orientation toward recycled materials, and a zero-waste production model. At Sabina, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of production processes, recycling technologies, and initiatives to reduce environmental impact an exemplary model of sustainable fashion in the ASEAN region.

In addition, the delegation held a professional session at the Thailand Textile Institute (THTI), a key research institute under Thailand’s Ministry of Industry. THTI focuses on developing technical textiles, fabric quality testing, energy-efficient dyeing and finishing, and the application of new materials in fashion. IUH lecturers directly observed laboratories, testing procedures, and green production models, gaining valuable experience to support teaching and research at the University.

The international training program enabled IUH lecturers to update their knowledge in circular economy, sustainable materials, carbon emission management, and green supply chains. Major achievements include expanded cooperation networks with regional research institutes, universities, and enterprises. The program's content will be integrated into training programs in Garment Technology & Fashion, Industrial Finance & Accounting, and Green Supply Chain Management, directly enhancing training quality and practical alignment. Additionally, the program laid the groundwork for research collaboration, academic exchange, and joint project development within the Mekong–Lancang subregion, specifically opening new opportunities for IUH in creative industries and sustainable textiles.
