From August 21 to August 25, 2024, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) hosted the 2nd International Student Cultural Exchange and Scientific Research Week. The event featured representatives from universities in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Music, cuisine, and cultural exchanges fostering friendship
On August 21, 2024, the event began with an opening ceremony attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Sao Mai, Vice Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Ngoc Nam, Head of the Department of Scientific Management and International Cooperation; MSc. Bui Dinh Tien, Deputy Head of the Department of Scientific Management and International Cooperation; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Duy, Deputy Secretary of the University Youth Union; and over 200 students.
Representing Tokyo University of Technology (TUT) were Prof. Dr. Kenji Hara, President of the International Council; Prof. Dr. Hiroaki Kurokawa; Prof. Dr. Shigeyuki Takagi; Prof. Dr. Takahiro Arakawa; Prof. Dr. Shu Nakaharai; and students from TUT. Additionally, participants included representatives from National Kongju University (Korea), Sejong Center (Korea), National Kaohsiung University (Taiwan), National Pingtung University (Taiwan), Jena University (Germany), University of Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, and Eastern International University (EIU).
During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Sao Mai expressed her enthusiasm and highlighted the growing importance of culture in the era of globalization and international integration. She emphasized that such cultural exchanges foster collaboration and provide students with the opportunity to appreciate and understand the cultural richness of different countries.

Each country and culture embodies its unique characteristics and beauty, reflected in its natural landscape and human spirit. Representatives from IUH showcased an impressive performance highlighting Vietnamese culture.

Known for its kimchi, ginseng, and world-renowned music scene, students from Kongju National University, Korea, also made a memorable impression during the exchange night.
An island renowned for its advanced economy, stunning landscapes, and unique culture—a blend of traditional Chinese elements and Western modernity—students from National Kaohsiung University (NUK), Taiwan, introduced international friends to Taiwan's tourist attractions and local specialties.
A beautiful country in the heart of Europe, renowned for its ancient charm and rich cultural heritage, Germany is also one of the world's leading economies and a top choice for studying abroad. Students from Jena University highlighted these aspects during their introduction.

Vietnam, a multi-ethnic country with a rich cultural heritage, features Hanoi with its historic 36 streets, the ancient and poetic city of Hue, and the vibrant Ho Chi Minh City. International students experienced the essence of Vietnam through a captivating performance by the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH).
Other exchange activities at the IUH Youth Cultural House included the Japanese tea ceremony, Sumo wrestling, Kimono and Hanbok costume experiences, making Japanese Dorayaki cakes, origami, traditional folk games, and sampling confections from Vietnam's three regions. Students from the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City also showcased Japanese Kimono attire.

Various international cultural exchange activities took place at the IUH Student Cultural House. The first day of the exchange session ended on a high note, filled with joy. IUH students, along with their international peers, engaged in cultural exchanges, forged new connections, and gained valuable experiences from friendly countries, leaving lasting impressions on everyone involved.
The program will continue with scientific research exchange activities focused on STEM and Robotics at Eastern International University (EIU) on August 22-23, 2024. It will conclude with cultural and scientific exchange events with high school students in Tay Ninh province on August 24, 2024.
