Attending the event were Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hoàng Hạnh, Director of the Center for Research, Training and Consulting Support, and Mr. Nguyễn Khoa Nguyên, Deputy Head of the Mechanical Division, Invention Center, representing IP Vietnam.
From IUH, participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đàm Sao Mai – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Ngọc Nam – Head of the Department of Science Management and International Affairs, along with experts, lecturers, and staff interested in intellectual property (IP) management and commercialization.
The workshop featured dynamic and practical discussions, beginning with two key reports.
The first report, titled “Intellectual Property in Research Collaboration and Implementation – International Experiences,” was presented by Mr. Hoàng Duy Khánh, Specialist at IP Vietnam. The presentation analyzed IP management policies at leading global universities, introduced effective models of research cooperation, development, and industrial property rights transfer, and offered recommendations for Vietnam in developing a unified governance mechanism among universities, researchers, and enterprises to optimize the commercial value of scientific outcomes.
Following this, Dr. Võ Nguyên Hoàng Phúc from the Institute of Intellectual Property, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, delivered the second report on “Commercialization of Intellectual Property Rights – Models Suitable for Vietnam.”
The report provided insights into the university enterprise model, methods for transforming scientific research outcomes into commercial products, and challenges related to IP valuation, profit distribution, and risk management in bringing research products to market.
In the afternoon, IP Vietnam conducted a training session titled “Guidelines for Patent Search and Specification Drafting,” directly instructed by Mr. Nguyễn Khoa Nguyên, Deputy Head of the Mechanical Division, Invention Center. The session attracted many research officers, lecturers, and IP specialists from various universities and research institutes across Southern Vietnam.
In her remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đàm Sao Mai, Vice Rector of IUH, emphasized: “In the context of digital transformation and deep international integration, managing and commercializing intellectual property in higher education institutions not only enhances research value but also reaffirms the University’s role as a knowledge hub closely connected with the needs of businesses and society. IUH always aims to translate scientific research results into practical applications, creating products with real-world commercial and social value.”
