National Conference: 50 Years of Vietnamese Law – A Journey to Protect Citizens’ Rights and Interests 10-10-2025
On the morning of October 10, at Hall E4 of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), the National Scientific Conference themed “Law and Policies on Protecting Individual and Citizens’ Rights and Interests: 50 Years of Formation and Development” officially took place.
Assoc attended the event. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Ngọc Nam – Head of the Office of Science Management and International Affairs (IUH); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Minh Hùng – Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences (IUH); M.A. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Hạnh – Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Justice; together with nearly 300 delegates, including scholars, lecturers, doctoral candidates, and students from universities and research institutes across the country.

Delivering the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Ngọc Nam, Head of the Office of Science Management and International Affairs, emphasized: “This conference is not only an academic event but also an opportunity for us to look back on 50 Years of Vietnam's Reunification - a journey in which human rights have been increasingly guaranteed and respected across all aspects of social life.”
Organized within the framework of scientific activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification (1975–2025), the conference provided a forum for researchers to exchange theoretical and practical insights on law, human, and civil rights in Vietnam, while also promoting scientific collaboration among universities and academies both inside and outside Ho Chi Minh City.

Two Parallel Thematic Sessions: Multidimensional Insights on Theory and Practice
The conference program consisted of two parallel sessions: Law Session at Hall E4 and Political Science Session at Room R3.
At the Law Session, many presentations reflected key issues in the context of legal reform and international integration.

Highlighted topics included: Ensuring human rights in judicial reform; Protecting human rights in intellectual property law within cyberspace and the digital era
Civil law in Vietnam: 50 years of development since national reunification; Food safety laws in various countries – experiences for Vietnam in enhancing human rights protection in business activities
Corporate responsibility in respecting human rights under international standards and recommendations for Vietnamese legal policies
At the Political Science Session, the chairing council and scholars presented a series of papers focusing on human rights in sustainable development, social governance, and modern judicial administration.
Notable presentations included: “Protecting Human Rights in the Sustainable Exploitation of Natural Resources” by Dr. Võ Trung Tín and Đặng Văn Bắc (Ho Chi Minh City University of Law Ho Chi Minh City)
“Ensuring the Rights of Minors Subject to Compulsory Rehabilitation under International Standards and Vietnamese Law” by Dr. Cao Vũ Minh (University of Economics and Law – VNUHCM)
“Legal Issues Concerning the Right to Be Forgotten and Its Application in Vietnamese Criminal Justice” by Dr. Trịnh Duy Thuyên, Senior Lecturer (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City)
An Academic Space Connecting Young Researchers
With the active participation of lecturers, doctoral candidates, and students, the conference created an engaging academic environment where young generations could approach real-world legal research, deepen their understanding of citizens’ rights and obligations, and strengthen their sense of civic responsibility in the new context.
Students from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences (IUH) had the opportunity to engage directly with experts, listening to and discussing with them. This enriching activity spread the spirit of learning and scientific inquiry among the youth and student community.
Fostering Legal Research Cooperation and Development
Concluding the program, the Organizing Committee emphasized that the conference served as a vital bridge in reinforcing collaboration among educational and research institutions nationwide. It also marked a critical reflection on the 50-year journey of Vietnamese law formation and improvement, closely associated with the nation’s efforts to protect human rights and citizens’ rights.

The National Scientific Conference “Law and Policies on Protecting Individual and Citizens’ Rights and Interests: 50 Years of Formation and Development” not only stood as a significant academic forum but also contributed to nurturing the spirit of research, learning, and civic responsibility among young generations — those who will continue building the nation through knowledge and a steadfast respect for the rule of law.
