University-Level Scientific Conference: “Improving Training Quality – Current Situation and Solutions” 17-05-2025

On the morning of May 16, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City held a university-level scientific conference themed “Improving Training Quality – Current Situation and Solutions,” organized by the Training Department. This was a significant event aimed at reviewing and evaluating the university's training efforts during the 2020–2025 term, while also serving as a strategic preparatory step for the upcoming Party Congress of the university for the 2025–2030 term.


Conference Hall Atmosphere

The conference was attended by representatives of the Party Committee, the Board of Rectors, leaders of faculties/institutes, functional departments, and lecturers. On the university leadership side, the event welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Sao Mai – Vice Rector, and Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong – Vice Rector.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu emphasized: “A comprehensive evaluation of our training efforts over the past five years is a key task. It allows us to identify strengths to promote and address remaining challenges with timely solutions. I hope this conference will gather many practical and constructive opinions that improve training quality, thereby better meeting the labor market's and enterprises' demands.”


 

The conference featured in-depth presentations offering diverse and specific perspectives from various fields:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Nam, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology, presented “Improving the Training Quality in Engineering and Technology Fields.”

  • Dr. Huynh Tan Dung – Deputy Director of the Institute of Finance and Accounting, presented: “Enhancing Training Quality and Graduation Rates – Orientation and Development Solutions”

  • Dr. Le Nhat Duy – Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, delivered the presentation: “Managing and Organizing Graduation Thesis and Internship Courses – Challenges and Solutions”

  • Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan – Head of the Training Department, presented: “Current Status of Training Quality and Some Proposals.”

Following the presentations, a vibrant discussion session took place with many heartfelt contributions from faculty members across the university. These diverse insights helped complete the picture of the current training landscape, while also opening up new and feasible proposals aimed at improving training quality in the coming period.

Mr. Pham Trung Kien, Head of the Organization and Administration Department, shared: Currently, the percentage of lecturers with doctoral degrees at our university has surpassed 39%, nearing the target. We must continue striving to reach the 50% goal soon. Developing criteria to measure lecturer and staff satisfaction and performance (KPIs) is also essential.”

Mr. Nguyen Truong Sa, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, emphasized the importance of interdepartmental cooperation in monitoring and supporting students' English learning progress to ensure output standards and improve integration capabilities.

Many faculty heads and lecturers also proposed practical ideas, such as allocating break time between exam periods to reduce student stress and introducing policies to support outstanding students in scientific research.

The conference concluded with numerous valuable ideas and solutions, serving as a solid foundation for the university to enter the 2025–2030 phase with new strategic directions, enhancing training quality to meet society's practical needs better.
