Outstanding student of Faculty of Electrical Technology wins second prize in MECA 2023 competition 18-07-2023

On the morning of 15/7/2023 at the final of the MECA 2023 competition held at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Corba Team from the Faculty of Electrical Technology of IUH excellently won, becoming the runner-up of the contest with the topic "Automatic product assembly system".

Dr. Duong Thanh Long (the far left) - Deputy Dean of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Ngo Thanh Quyen (the far right) - Head of Automation Department and other teachers of IUH Electrical Department, has contributed greatly to helping Corba Team win the second prize of MECA 2023.

MECA 2023 has attracted 160 projects from 12 leading universities from North to South such as: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Transport, Thai Nguyen University of Industrial Technology, Da Nang University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), Tra Vinh University ... Dr. Ngo Thanh Quyen said: "The teams were required to design and construct the actual project model by themselves, using Mitsubishi Electric equipment provided. In particular, the judges emphasized the creativity and applicability of the project and required the projects to have environmental protection solutions. This is a special feature of MECA's criteria, which also fits our training criteria."

During the competition's final event, a total of 18 teams successfully navigated through three rigorous rounds of evaluation by the judges, resulting in the selection of the top 6 teams for the ultimate ranking. Demonstrating remarkable creativity and exceptional performance, the Corba Team, led by students Vo An Hung, Nguyen Hong Phong, Nguyen Minh Thuan, and Vo Tuong Phi from the Faculty of Electrical Technology - IUH, showcased their "Automatic Product Assembly System." Under the guidance of lecturer Ngo Thanh Quyen, their outstanding project not only captivated the jury but also secured them the well-deserved second-place prize overall.

MECA – Mitsubishi Electric Cup Automation is a highly specialized competition organized by Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam Co., Ltd. with the support of universities. The contest is a platform to motivate students to seek challenges and improve their design and programming competence, expanding future job opportunities. Starting in 2020 in Vietnam, experiencing 2 successful competition seasons (2020, 2021-2022), MECA has now become a prestigious award in the automation community. Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Industrial University of Ho CHi Minh City has accompanied MECA since the second season and achieved high rankings with two second prizes at MECA 2021.
