IUH Inaugurates New School Facility in Cao Bang Through Post-Typhoon Yagi Relief Program 19-06-2025

In late September 2024, Typhoon Yagi (Storm No. 3) caused severe landslides across multiple northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam. In an immediate response, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) launched the campaign "IUH for the Northern Communities," calling on its staff, faculty, and students to donate to support affected areas. The campaign successfully raised a total of VND 3,656,130,355. Through collaboration with Tuoi Tre Newspaper, IUH contributed to reconstructing storm-damaged school sites in Cao Bang Province.

On June 19, 2025, the newly rebuilt Pac Ra satellite campus of Ly Bon Kindergarten, located in Ly Bon Commune, Bao Lam District, Cao Bang, was officially inaugurated. Construction began on February 19, 2025, and was funded by IUH, Dai Duong Joint Venture, and Tuoi Tre readers. The project was completed in time for the 2025–2026 academic year, replacing temporary classrooms that students had used in the village's community center.

The new Pac Ra school site, now fully equipped and spacious, has officially entered operation.

Following Typhoon Yagi, the original Pac Ra school was destroyed and deemed irreparable. The school serves over 40 preschool-aged children, mostly from ethnic minority groups such as the Hmong, Dao, and Tay, whose living conditions remain extremely challenging. The new facility includes two classrooms, a kitchen, teacher housing, and a playground, built on over 220 square meters of solid foundation. It is fully equipped with clean water, electricity, playground equipment, and essential educational tools, bringing real value to the local community and offering students a safe, nurturing learning environment where they can grow in both body and mind.

The new playground and well-equipped schoolyard create a joyful, vibrant space for learning and play.

In addition to the construction, the program donated 15 cows to local families and installed a clean water filtration system to ensure safe living conditions for the community.

Representing IUH at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Le Ngoc Son, Chairman of the IUH Labor Union, shared: "Seeing the new school completed and the joyful smiles of the children here, we deeply feel that although our contribution may be small, it has created great humanitarian value. It helps these children feel secure and continue their education." This strong community service and humanitarian outreach spirit has long been a core value at IUH, fostering a culture of compassion and responsibility throughout the university.
