Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City opens the academic year 2023-2024 19-10-2023
In the afternoon of October 18, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City inaugurated the academic year 2023-2024, welcoming over 9,000 new students.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the institution successfully enrolled over 9,000 new students, reaching 99% of its set enrollment target. These students displayed commendable academic performance with industry-standard scores ranging from 19 to 26 points, indicating stable and continuous improvement in the quality of admissions year after year.
Dr. Phan Hong Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the School Council at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, inaugurated the commencement of the 2023-2024 academic year by beating the ceremonial drum.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr. Phan Hong Hai, Chairman of the School Board at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), highlighted that the academic year 2022-2023 marks the second year of the education sector's commitment to implementing the resolutions of the XIII National Congress of the Party. He emphasized that the entire education sector remains steadfast in fulfilling its academic year objectives, meeting the demands of innovation, and upholding the standards of education and training quality.
Furthermore, this academic year marks the initiation of the university's development goals for the 2021-2026 period, the third year of executing the resolutions from the Party Congress of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry for the 2020-2025 term. It is also a year where the autonomy mechanism has been successfully implemented, yielding noteworthy accomplishments across various facets. These achievements lay the groundwork for the institution's future growth in the coming years.
Over 9,000 new students at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City eagerly participate in the commencement of the 2023-2024 academic year.
As a result, the academic year's training plan was successfully executed on schedule, with a job placement rate for graduates exceeding 90%. Additionally, the income of faculty and staff members increased in comparison to the previous year. Notably, the institution achieved significant milestones in terms of rankings, evaluations, and accreditations: IUH was consistently listed as one of the top universities in Asia, securing a place in the QS Education ranking for the second consecutive year, earning a ranking of 601+ among the best universities in Asia and claiming the 6th position among the best universities in Vietnam. Furthermore, the organization recognized the university as meeting the QS Stars 4-star quality standard, with a score of 684/500.
Presently, the university accommodates 16 training programs that comply with AUN-QA standards, 6 programs aligning with ABET standards, and 8 programs meeting the accreditation criteria as outlined in Circular 04/2016 issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
During this event, on behalf of the Quality Assurance Organization of the Southeast Asian University Network (AUN-QA), the university presented certificates to four units, recognizing their compliance with AUN-QA standards based on the April 2023 assessment. These units include Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Control and Automation Engineering Technology, Computer Science, and Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs. Furthermore, the school is set to receive the Certificate of Education Quality Standards at the institutional level in 2023, marking the second time this prestigious recognition has been granted.
Dr. Phan Hong Hai - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Rector Board and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu - Vice Rector in charge of the school presented awards to valedictorian of the school's major groups.
Dr. Phan Hong Hai - affirmed: In the academic year 2023 - 2024, the university will keep implementing breakthrough solutions, innovating undergraduate and postgraduate training programs, international affiliate programs with the core value "Innovation - Solidarity - Humanity". Building on the achievements achieved in the past year, the school defines specific objectives: Pioneering in the fields of education and research; promoting community service connections; constructing modern educational institutions; attracting high-quality resources at home and abroad; stable and sustainable investment and income.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Sao Mai - Vice Rector and Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong - Vice Rector of the school awarded scholarships to students with excellent academic achievements in the academic year 2022-2023.
During the commencement of the new academic year, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City granted 9 scholarships to exceptional students who achieved top positions in their majors, and an additional 25 scholarships were bestowed upon exemplary students with outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2022-2023 academic year. The combined value of these scholarships totals 140 million VND, drawn from the university's Scholarship Fund, which is dedicated to supporting students and amounts to 60 billion VND per year. These scholarships aim to inspire and foster a dedicated spirit of learning.
Furthermore, 12 students facing financial hardships but displaying remarkable determination and exceptional academic performance were also honored on this occasion through the Common Heart Fund, with a cumulative value of 120 million VND.
