To get the above results, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Đàm Sao Mai, Vice Rector, said: "Over the years, the school has always focused on assessment, accreditation and education rankings. Positive change through self-control
Forerunner of IUH is Go Vap Vocational School established in 1956. In 1994, the school was renamed The School of Technical Workers IV, under the Ministry of Mechanical and Metallurgy. In 1999, the school was upgraded to Industrial College 4 with the goal of training staff with technical colleges, professional high schools, technical workers. On December 2004, the Prime Minister made a decision to establish the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City. HCM under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Tán, Vice Rector, shared: "From the orientation of vocational training to the higher education institution in the direction of application, in the beginning, the school has faced many difficulties. The school's original teaching staff had very few PhDs due to the orientation of vocational training. At the same time, outdated machines and equipment have made the practice imposiible to meet the requirements of the enterprises. In addition, the training program upgraded from intermediate to university level also faces many inadequacies, not ensuring the requirements of high-quality human resources in the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Recognizing these challenges, the school leaders have boldly made big decisions. Among them, it is worth mentioning participating in the pilot project to renew the operating mechanism in the period of 2015 - 2017 according to the Decision No. 902/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated June 23, 2015 on the assignment of autonomy and full responsibility for the activities of the university."
The library center's facilities are modernly invested by the University
According to the school's leaders since participating in the autonomy project, the university has been proactive and flexible in taking advantage of the autonomy mechanism to have a suitable development roadmap. With the assignment of autonomy, full responsibility, the university has many advantages such as: being more proactive about regular expenditures, investing in the procurement of machinery for training, scientific research and proactively building salary regimes, bonuses and allowances to attract talents to improve the quality of training and increase income for cadres and officials. The school invests heavily in facilities, implements KOSEN model (Japan) to expand and improve the educational environment and school landscape. Thanks to the autonomy mechanism, the technology trasfer has developed in the last few years with many projects worth billions of dong. In particular, the project "Hyacinth Cutter picking up rafts, seaweed, hyacincils and floating garbage on canal routes in U Minh Thuong National Park" has been transferred to many units and businesses. After many improvements, this device is now being transferred in order to many other businesses with a value of up to billions of VND / equipment. The project "Drinking water filtration system for secondary schools in Da Nang" is a community program (funded by Coca Cola Vietnam through the Center for Family Health and Community Development – CFC). CFC has ordered the school to manufacture water purification equipment installed for the school with a cost of hundreds of millions.

Mr. Thái Duy Tùng - lecturer of the Faculty of Banking and Finance, head of the School's Startup Club, said: "In addition to being taught knowledge, students are also facilitated to foster and train skills. The university also built an innovation startup fund of up to VND 5 billion per year to support start-up students. The investment in building rooms modeled after the reality of enterprises such as "4.0-industrial-technoloy smart factory" or "corporate governance practice room" on campus has been highly appreciated by students. Lê Thị Yến Nhi (4th year student of Faculty of Commerce and Tourism), shared: "With the e-commerce industry, since the 3rd year I have been experiencing a real working- environment at large corporations in the simulation rooms of the university. I am very interested in this learning method."
Attracting highly qualified human resources with good treatment policies
According to Dr. Phan Hồng Hải, up to now, the university has 7 professors, 31 associate professors, 217 doctors out of a total of 1,381 staff (more than 1,000 lecturers). To achieve this result, the school board has come up with a roadmap and policy to attract highly qualified personnel to the school. In six years (from 2015 to 2020), the university's doctoral rate has increased from 14% to 25% of the total number of lecturers. "To attract highly qualified lecturers to work at the university, we have increased the search, invitation and encouragement of overseas doctors to work at the school. Each year the school sets a minimum recruitment target of 15 or more doctors; strengthens the search for sources of domestic and foreign fellows and introduce good treatment policies for doctors to work at the university; develop a program of cooperation in exchanging lecturers with international partners to invite foreign lecturers to teach at the school," Mr. Hải said.
