From INNOGREENLIFE Green Life Innovation Contest Projects to Spin-off Enterprises 16-09-2023
On September 15, 2023: IUH held a ceremoney awarding INNOGREENLIFE 2022 winners, launching INNOGREENLIFE 2023, and establishing Eco House Spin-off Enterprise
The event was attended by key figures, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu, Vice Rector in charge of the school, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Trung Thanh, Director of the Startup Innovation Center. Also present were representatives from startup incubation centers, General Directors, chairpersons of enterprise boards of directors who served as semi-finals and final round jury members, faculty leaders, team-guiding lecturers, and lecturers from various faculties, institutes, and departments across the school. More than 20 teams participated in this event, which took place at Hall E4.

Returning to Season 2, INNOGREENLIFE 2023 has solidified its reputation by attracting a larger number of high-quality projects in comparison to its inaugural season in 2022. The competition has played a pivotal role in nurturing and bolstering these projects, enabling them to confidently participate in both national and international contests. Notable achievements include Greenblade's "Weed treatment machine to replace chemicals," which secured the First Prize at the Univ.Star Student Startup Idea Contest 2023. ECO-HOUSE, recognized with the First Prize in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery category at the SV Start-Up 2022 contest, also clinched the Third Prize at the Univ.Star Student Startup Idea Contest 2023. Additionally, Bao Ngoc's innovation, utilizing coffee fruit skin in the fermentation process for Vietnamese coffee wine, was awarded the Third Prize at the Univ.Star Student Startup Idea Contest 2023.
During the ceremony, prizes were conferred by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Trung Thanh to the teams that achieved notable distinctions in both national and international competitions.
As part of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu, the Vice Rector overseeing the school, officially presented the decision to establish the Eco-House Spin-off enterprise. This marks the second spin-off enterprise initiated by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, underscoring the university's vital role as an integral component within the startup and innovation ecosystem. The significance of the university in this ecosystem is evident in initiatives such as Project 844, "Supporting the National Innovation Startup Ecosystem until 2025," and Project 1665, "Supporting Student Entrepreneurship until 2025," initiated by the Government.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu presented the decision to establish the ECO-HOUSE Spin-off Enterprise to the project authors.
Emerging from the concept of merging IoT technology for agricultural applications with tailored solutions and business models for individual farms, the Eco-House project - an Online Monitoring and Control System for livestock and cultivation - has evolved from a standout idea in the "Innovation for Green Life - INNOGREENLIFE 2022" contest into a commercialized product. This transformation includes a convincing business model that has attracted investors.
At the ceremony, the winning teams in the Innogreenlife Innovation Contest 2022 were rewarded in turn:
- The project "IUHCODER - Automated coding and classroom management platform" won the first prize.
- The project "Design and manufacture rehabilitation exoskeleton actuator for hands based on bioplastic 3D printing application" won the second prize.
- The project " Wild Grass Eliminator: A Chemical Substitute" won the third prize.
- The project "Coffee Wine: Fermenting Beverage from Coffee Fruit Byproducts " won the most impressive startup project award.
- The project "ATM clothing - "Give old clothes more opportunities to regenerate" from Ho Chi Minh City Banking University won the Best Female Founder.
- "StalaGinseng Project – Pharmaceutical Incubator"; "Business and production project of bath bomb from natural origin"; "Smart Water Meter Project" – won the Consolation Prize of the contest.
Assoc.Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hieu awarded the first prize to the project "IUHCODER - Automated coding and classroom management platform."
Building on the achievements of the previous contest, the Organizing Committee is proud to introduce the Innovation Contest for Green Life – Innogreen Life 2023. This Startup Innovation Contest - Innogreen Life is designed to foster the growth of inventive ideas, projects, and products that add tangible value to our lives. It also serves to bolster the reputation of IUH by contributing innovative and entrepreneurial student and faculty initiatives to society.
