99% of candidates took the competency assessment test, batch 1 at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) 07-04-2024

On the morning of April 7, at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, the first batch of the competency assessment exam was organized by VNU-HCM in Cluster No. 10. Nearly 200 lecturers, staff, and students from the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City were present early at Exam Cluster 10 to provide directions, support candidates in finding the correct test site, and offer drinking water to the candidates.

"As a unit experienced in organizing and planning exam boards—from facilities and personnel to the thoughtful arrangement of convenient safety plans for candidates—the organization at IUH has been carefully prepared. This morning's exam took place smoothly and successfully, with a 99% attendance rate (3582 out of 3617 candidates). Overall, the first batch of exams was conducted safely," said Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of IUH Academic Affairs Office.

Most candidates appeared comfortable and interested in the competency assessment test. Upon leaving the exam room, Nguyen Gia Bao from Nguyen Khuyen High School shared, "The test was not too difficult and just in time; I scored about 85%." Ngo Nguyen Minh Chau, also from Nguyen Khuyen High School, commented, "The test is manageable for 12th-grade students. However, a few logical thinking questions were a bit time-consuming." Meanwhile, Pham Nghia Hieu from Phu Nhuan High School said, "This year's test was quite difficult with high differentiation, especially the natural science subjects that required agility and critical thinking. I rated it about 60%."

Candidates are comfortable before the competency assessment test

The VNU-HCM competency exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions with a duration of 150 minutes. The structure includes three parts: use of language; mathematics, logical thinking, data analysis; and problem-solving. The aim is to assess candidates' basic competencies for college study.

The results of the first batch of the competency exam will be announced on April 15. VNU-HCM will open the registration portal for the second batch of the competency exam from April 16 to May 7. The second competency exam will be held on June 2 in Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, and An Giang.
