500 IUH Student Volunteers Leave a Lasting Mark in the 2025 Green Summer Campaign 04-08-2025
Over 500 student volunteers in green shirts from the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) have returned after a month of wholehearted dedication to meaningful and compassionate projects in underprivileged areas. Carrying with them the spirit of youth and service, they left behind a deep and enduring impression through their tireless efforts.
The campaign's launch ignited enthusiasm among IUH volunteers in 2025.
In 2025, the IUH Youth Union and Student Association organized the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign on a large scale, running from June 1 to July 30, 2025. The official launching ceremony took place on June 10, marking the beginning of a journey to spread community responsibility across Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Ca Mau (formerly Bến Tre, Dong Thap, Bac Lieu), and several wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City.
Eight specialized teams — including Vinh Binh, An Phu Thuan, Vinh Hung A, Go Vap, Cu Chi, Electrical Engineering, Media, and Digital Youth — implemented a series of practical and impactful projects:
- Built a 3-km "Light up Rural Roads" solar lighting system worth 40 million VND
- Paved rural concrete roads valued at 40 million VND
- Constructed and repaired houses for policy beneficiary families, with a budget of 40 million VND
- Installed solar-powered lighting systems worth 20 million VND
- Organized "Green Shirt Tutoring" classes for more than 50 students
- Delivered over 100 scholarships and gifts to policy families, war veterans, and disadvantaged students/youths, with a total value of nearly 100 million VND
In addition, the volunteers supported local authorities with administrative tasks, launched digital transformation programs, conducted tech training sessions, improved foreign language skills, and contributed to the development of "bright – green – clean – beautiful" surroundings. Their efforts supported the construction of new-style rural areas and modern, civilized urban communities.
A highlight of this year's campaign: 11 outstanding students were admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam, a proud achievement resulting from their continued dedication and contributions.
Comrade Nguyễn Hoàng Duy – Deputy Secretary of the IUH Youth Union, shared:
"Although the official deployment was on June 10, many teams had already begun engaging in city-level activities from early June. It was a full month of continuous work, but the spirit and enthusiasm of our volunteers remained strong, with deep ties to each community they served."
Comrade Nguyễn Hoàng Duy and Comrade Nguyễn Thái Tân visited and encouraged local policy beneficiary families during the campaign.
The 2025 Green Summer Campaign at IUH has officially ended, but the footprints of these volunteers remain etched on every road, in every smile of the people they helped. The IUH green shirts not only built infrastructure, but they also built hope and trust.
That is the most valuable baggage IUH youth carry: passion, a strong sense of responsibility, and readiness to take on missions from the City Youth Union, Student Association, Party Committee, and University Board of Rectors — all in service of building a sustainably developing IUH, a livable and compassionate Ho Chi Minh City, and a prosperous, happy Vietnam.
