IUH delegation visits and works in Thailand 05-06-2022

To strengthen cooperation with Thai partners, the delegation of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) led by the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đàm Sao Mai - Vice Rector of the school – made a business trip to Thailand from 26/5/2022 to 04/06/2022 to visit and work with universities, centers for innovation and technology transfer in Thailand, Thammasat University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT),  Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer of the Government of Thailand, Food Innopolis, Kasem Bundit University,....

1. Work with Thammasat University:

Welcoming and working with the delegation is Assoc. Prof. Kammal Kumar Pawa – Vice-Chancellor in charge of Pattaya Campus along with the Faculty and Center Leaders of the School. The two sides shared and discussed experiences, programs and projects of international cooperation such as the exchange of lecturers, students, research cooperation, innovation and technology transfer with the Innovation Center of Thammasat School in Pattaya, combining university training in the form of 1 + 3,  training Masters and Doctors in the side disciplines of Information Technology, Biotechnology, Automation, AI, IoT, combining technology transfer research with other disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, electricity – electronics, information technology, food, biotechnology, AI, IoT, Digital Hospital,  linking cooperation in areas related to food, spa,.. learning central laboratory system model. Methods of arranging, designing, investing laboratories.

2. Work with Kasetsart University:

Welcoming and working with the Delegation is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Tayjasanant, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, Kasetsart University, and Head of Departments/Functions of the Department. The two sides discussed and shared experiences, programs and projects of international cooperation including the exchange of lecturers and students, jointly organizing seminars and seminars on common topics, combining university training in the form of 1 + 2, 2 + 1 international training programs,  support scholarships for students participating in in-school training programs in the majors of Business Administration, Finance, Agriculture, Biotechnology with undergraduate and master's degrees. In addition, the two sides will have projects to combine research and technology transfer on the cultivation of crops and smart farms. In the afternoon working with representatives of Kasetsart School, the IUH staff had the opportunity to visit and study the start-up faculty/student model with their own products displayed and sold at the school's supermarket.

3. Working with Chulalongkorn University: Faculty of Science – Department of Food Technology:

Working with the delegation is Prof. Dr. Panita Ngamchuachit – In charge of the Department of Food Technology. The two units discussed and shared the contents of cooperation in Chulalongkorn University in the field of training, scientific research, improving team strength, building programs and student exchange programs, supporting scholarships for students participating in training programs in the school, organize summer semesters for students via summer courses. In addition, the IUH delegation had the opportunity to learn the investment model of modern laboratory equipment to support the research and creation of sample products.

4. Work with King Mongkut's University of Technology (KMUTT):

Working with the Delegation is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornapit Darasawang – Vice Rector of the school and Heads of Departments/Faculties. The two schools discussed and proposed contents of cooperation in the fields of training, scientific research, student exchange programs, and international accreditation.  The faculties/institutes of the two schools also exchange and share specific contents for the cooperation programs. The two schools have agreed to implement cooperation programs in the coming time in the following areas: Training, scientific research, faculty exchange, student exchange, educational accreditation, conducting joint research on post-harvest technologies and environmentally friendly cultivation technologies, learning how to link and cooperate with businesses.

5. Work with Kasem Bundit University

Working with the Delegation is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwat Suwandee – Vice Principal in charge of External Affairs of the school. The two schools discussed and proposed contents of cooperation in the fields of training, scientific research, student exchange programs, and international accreditation.  In particular, the two sides jointly focus on the development of the Restaurant and Hospitality industry with specific content for cooperation programs including the exchange of lecturers and students, combining training of international training programs taught in English, organizing short-term and long-term internship courses at the school. In addition, the IUH delegation had the opportunity to visit and learn the practical model of modern restaurants and hotels with diverse equipment to support learning and experience; plan to arrange, design and build a practical system for the tourism-restaurant-hotel sector.

On this business trip, the IUH delegation also visited and worked with the Thailand Government’s Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer, Food Innopolis. This is a model for connecting researchers and businesses, as well as connecting researchers, businesses and individuals who are free to research and make products and develop together to the market. The delegation also exchanged and consulted to learn from the experience of support and linkage models in innovation and new product development.

During this study trip, the school has made innovations and obtained many results such as research and new design arrangements for the practice system of the tourism – restaurant – hotel sector. The school delegation discussed and signed a school-level MOU with partners: Thammasat University, Kasetsart University, Chulalongkorn University, King Mongkut's University, Kasem Bundit University; Implemented a cooperation in Restaurant and Hospitality Management with Kasem University; discussed technology transfer between Thailand's innovation centers, Thai training units and the University's Innovation and Technology Transfer Center; Made a list of product segments that carry out technology transfer; Applied in investment projects, repair and equip units in the school in a way that is appropriate and compatible with the current state of the school.
