From Google to Vietnam: French Student Chooses IUH for International Internship 04-09-2025
Over 10,000 km away from Vietnam, Garnier Pierrick — an Electrical Engineering student from CESI Engineering School, University of Nantes, France (Université de Nantes) — proactively chose the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) for his internship program, which took place from May 16 to September 26, 2025.
A Journey to IUH Through a Click
Without going through any partnership channel, 22-year-old Garnier Pierrick searched Google using the keywords “university” and “Electrical Engineering major”, compared the strengths of various universities, and decided on IUH. He believes this internship will enrich his academic portfolio and open up many future career opportunities.

“From the very first introduction, I was impressed by the modern facilities. In the e-mobility program, students work directly with real electric cars. In robotics, there are robots and 3D printers for practice. In electrical engineering, diverse laboratories provide training closely aligned with real-world applications. This approach makes knowledge concrete and truly inspiring,” Pierrick shared.
During his internship, Pierrick engaged in specialized areas such as renewable energy, real-time power system simulation, building management systems (BMS), and hands-on projects at Phoenix Contact Southeast Asia. MSc supervised all projects. Nguyễn Hoài Phong, lecturer of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, who remarked: “Pierrick is a diligent, proactive, and creative student who quickly adapted to the new environment. He not only completed his tasks well but also actively proposed many practical ideas.”

IUH – Friendly and Professional
Alongside MSc. Nguyễn Hoài Phong and Pierrick also gained hands-on experience with the BMS system under the guidance of an MSc. Trịnh Hữu Trường, another lecturer from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He had the chance to explore corporate culture, study EV charging stations, and work with advanced electrical devices at Phoenix Contact Southeast Asia. These valuable experiences allowed him to access cutting-edge technology while understanding the link between education and industrial production.

Pierrick’s biggest impression of IUH is its friendly, professional, and practice-oriented learning environment.
“I always received dedicated support from lecturers and fellow students, while still maintaining autonomy in my work. This was truly an experience that far exceeded my initial expectations,” he said.
For Pierrick, the internship at IUH was both enriching and transformative — reinforcing his knowledge of electronics and renewable energy while also offering a new perspective on life through his mentor’s advice: “If you want to do something, just do it — don’t hesitate.” He added:
“This mindset is very different from many young people in my country, where the fear of failure often outweighs the willingness to try.”
Pierrick’s choice once again affirms IUH as a modern, professional academic destination rich in practical experience, where international students can confidently grow in a truly industrial environment.
