The VIII Congress of the Vietnam Students' Union at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2023-2025 has been a resounding success 06-05-2023

The purpose of this congress was to assess and summarize the outcomes achieved through the implementation of the resolutions set forth during the Seventh General Meeting of the Vietnam Student Association at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, for the term 2020-2023. Furthermore, it aimed to establish the direction for the future work of the Association and the student movement for the new term. On May 6th, 2023, the Vietnamese Students' Union of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) conducted the Eighth Congress of the Vietnamese Students' Union, marking a significant milestone.

The Congress witnessed the presence of several notable individuals representing various organizations. From the Ho Chi Minh City Union and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Students' Union, we had Comrade Tran Thu Ha, who served as the Deputy Secretary of the Union and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Students' Union. Comrade To Minh Hieu, the Deputy Youth Committee of Thanh Doan School and a member of the Secretariat, as well as the Chief of Office of the City Vietnamese Students' Union, also attended. Additionally, Mr. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, an officer of the Office of the City Vietnamese Students' Union, was present. On the IUH's side, the delegation included Mr. Hoang Do, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Student Affairs, and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hong, a member of the Party Standing Committee and the Vice Rector of the school. Comrade Pham Thanh Tung, a Party member and the Chairman of the School Union, along with Comrade Huynh Phu Vinh, another Party member and the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh People's Union, were also present. Comrade Pham Ngoc Anh, the Chairman of the School Veterans Association, participated as well. Moreover, the Congress was attended by lecturers serving as the heads and deputy heads of various units, faculties, departments, centers, and institutes within IUH. Former Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretariat members, and Executive Committee members of IUH Students' Union from different periods were also in attendance. Representing different regions, the delegates included representatives from Chau Thanh District Union (Dong Thap Province), Cu Chi District Union (Ho Chi Minh City), and the Vietnam Student Union of Can Tho University. In total, there were 200 delegates, serving as exemplary members representing the interests of more than 36,000 members.

The Eighth Congress of the IUH Student Union, for the term 2023-2025, holds immense significance as it reflects the aspirations, creative thinking, dynamism, integration bravery, and pioneering spirit of IUH students in embracing digital transformation. The congress was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the various units of the Students' Union within your school. Furthermore, it garnered significant attention and recognition from the leaders of IUH.

Simultaneously, the Congress showcased the Students' Union as a guiding force, providing unwavering support, fostering unity, directing, and amplifying the abilities of IUH students. It made a notable contribution to the advancement of the nationwide student movement, as well as the student movement within the city specifically.

Comrade Tran Thu Thao - Member of the Standing Committee of the University Delegation, Vice President of the Students' Union of Course VII moderated the Consultative Congress to elect the Executive Committee of the Students' Association of Course VIII, term 2023 – 2025

With the responsibility of charting the course of activities and conducting negotiations for the election of the Executive Committee of the University Students' Union for the term 2023-2025, the Congress held a crucial role in formulating a precise resolution that encompasses an action plan aligning with the genuine aspirations of all students. Additionally, the Congress reached a consensus to elect a new Executive Committee comprising 21 individuals. During the First Conference, under the supervision of the Secretariat of the City Students' Union, the Party Committee - IUH School Board, and the Standing Committee of the University Delegation, the Executive Committee of the Eighth School's Students' Union engaged in negotiations regarding the election of the President, Vice President, and members of the Secretariat. Consequently, Comrade Tran Bao Duy, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the University Delegation and Vice President of the Student Association for the Eighth Term, was elected as the President of the Eighth Term Student Association. Comrade Tran Bao Duy now assumes the leadership role in overseeing the affairs of the association and spearheading the IUH student movement for the new term of 2023-2025.

During the Congress, the delegates engaged in negotiations to select official delegates and alternate delegates who would represent them in the Delegation for the Seventh Congress of the Vietnam Student Association in Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2023-2028. The delegation comprised of 8 official delegates and 3 alternate delegates.

Comrade Tran Thu Ha – Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, President of Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Students' Association spoke at the Congress

The Congress conducted a vote to endorse the political report and review report presented by the Executive Committee of the Students' Association for the Seventh Term. These reports highlighted the noteworthy objectives as follows:

1. The Congress set a target for all units of the Association, aiming to organize at least one impactful activity in adherence to the Politburo's Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW, issued on May 18, 2021. This conclusion serves to further implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the XII Politburo, dated May 15, 2016, which focuses on promoting the learning and embodiment of Uncle Ho's ideals, ethics, and way of life. The objective is to ensure that 100% of the Association's units actively engage in effective initiatives aligned with these guidelines.

2. Throughout the term, it is imperative that 100% of the Association's staff, members, and students are both informed and actively involved in activities aimed at developing fundamental digital competencies.

3. During the term, it is expected that the Vietnam Student Association will achieve full participation, with 100% of first-year students actively engaging in its activities.

4. The objective is for all units of the Association to successfully organize a minimum of one activity in the following areas: scientific research, academic playgrounds, and the promotion of students' creative ideas.

5. The aim is to provide introductions to 2,000 part-time jobs that are well-suited for students' respective majors. Additionally, arrangements will be made to offer 4,000 accommodation options for students.

6. Efforts will be made to mobilize a sum of 250 million VND in scholarships to support students and provide awards to commend their achievements.

7. The target is to have a minimum of 50,000 student volunteers actively participating in various volunteering initiatives.

8. There will be a minimum of 45 student scientific research topics available for exploration and study.

9. At the school level, the goal is to have a minimum of 250 students who attain the prestigious title of "Student with Five merits." Furthermore, there will be five students who achieve this distinction at the city level and two students who receive the honor at the Central level.

10. The objective is to mobilize a minimum of 8,000 students to voluntarily participate in blood donation drives.

11. It is targeted that all staff members of the Association holding positions from class president and above undergo training at least twice during the school year.

12. Every academic year, the goal is to organize a minimum of four activities aimed at enhancing students' foreign language proficiency and promoting their international integration.

13. The aspiration is to actively pursue the admission of 50 new Party members from the ranks of key Association officials at all levels who are recommended by the Vietnam Students' Union.

The expectation is that the Executive Committee of the IUH Students' Association for the Eighth Term, spanning 2023-2025, will consistently exhibit dedication, preparedness, a willingness to embrace change, and an unwavering commitment to making continuous efforts. These efforts aim to uphold and further enhance the esteemed reputation of the Vietnam Student Union within the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as contribute to the overall progress and pride of Ho Chi Minh City as a whole.
