IUH Brings AI into Education – Towards High-Quality Human Resources 13-08-2025

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant concept but a core technology of the modern era, present across fields from healthcare and finance to education. In education, AI offers groundbreaking innovations while also raising challenges related to ethics, privacy, and accessibility.

On the morning of August 12, 2025, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) hosted the conference “Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Education 2025.” Assoc attended the event. Prof. Dr. Đàm Sao Mai – Vice President of IUH, along with keynote speakers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Quản Thành Thơ – Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (VNU-HCM); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huỳnh Tường Nguyên – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, IUH; and Dr. Nguyễn Đình Quyền – AI specialist from Intel Vietnam.

In the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Quản Thành Thơ presented on “Applications of LLMs in Education,” focusing on GenAI in lecture design and scientific research. He also highlighted AI’s risks, such as plagiarism, limited knowledge updates, and potential academic pitfalls.

Following this, Dr. Nguyễn Đình Quyền shared insights on “Trends in AI Development and Applications in Education from an Enterprise Perspective.” He presented global and local data on AI’s impact on labor replacement, emphasizing that integrating AI into teaching is an inevitable trend for international integration, especially in the field of Information Technology.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huỳnh Tường Nguyên then addressed “Needs, Current Realities, and Directions for AI Application in Education.” He noted that AI helps reduce geographical barriers and creates equal learning opportunities, particularly as IUH already offers AI-related programs. However, challenges remain, including tool accuracy, IT workforce capacity, technical infrastructure, stakeholder resistance, as well as policy and funding constraints. He proposed policy, infrastructure, and human resource solutions to ensure responsible AI adoption.

The discussion session gathered diverse perspectives: IT faculty praised AI as a “powerful teaching assistant” in instruction and grading; economics faculty debated whether to develop one unified or multiple specialized AI tools for teaching and research; while engineering faculty stressed that although AI excels in synthesis and search, detailed problem-solving still requires human training and evaluation.

In her concluding remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đàm Sao Mai emphasized: “IUH is a multidisciplinary institution providing a significant labor force to the market, so we must clearly define how to adapt to the challenges of AI. AI is intelligent, but we must be smarter. The university leadership is committed to digital transformation and the application of AI to enhance educational quality. I expect upcoming conferences and training sessions to help faculty and staff update their skills and effectively guide students – the green shoots of our nation.”

Following the conference, from August 23 to 30, 2025, IUH will organize a series of in-depth AI training sessions for lecturers and staff, featuring both internal and external experts. The program will be coordinated by the Office of Testing & Quality Assurance in collaboration with the Faculty of Information Technology.
