International Conference Program: Chemistry and Application in 2020 24-07-2020
On the morning of July 24, 2020, at the Hall E4, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FCE) of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) held the opening session of the 4th International Conference Program - Chemistry and Application 2020. This an annual activity organized to promote the scientific research and application of the FCE lecturers and students.
In the Conference, on the side of the Rector Board, there were the presence of Prof. Dr. Le Van Tan (Vice President of the IUH), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong (Head of the FCE), researchers inside and outside of the country, lecturers, students, graduate students, PhD students inside and outside the school interested in the topic of the Conference as well as sponsors of the Conference. Due to the Covid-19, foreign professors did not directly participate in the Conference, but still presented their reports online.

The Conference's topics focused largely on nanomaterials, energy storage nanomaterials, materials for environmental treatment, and materials for applying catalysts to chemical reactions. In addition to the Conference, this year's program also attracts students through highly applicable activities such as Workshop on business connection, Practice Tie-Dye dyeing technique, and making lipstick and products from natural resources.
After nearly 8 months of implementation, the Organization Committee of the Conference had received significant active participation from domestic and foreign scientists as well as FCE lecturers and students. The Conference presented 17 reports, including 5 international reports of professors from major universities in the world as Prof. Dr. Ognjen. Miligateć- University of Houston - USA; Prof.Dr. Prasert Reubroycharoen - Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; Prof.Dr. Chanatip Samart, Thammasat University-Thailand; Prof. Dr. Haibo Zhang - Huazhong University-Wuhan, China and Prof. Dr. T.V.M. Sreekant-Yeungnam University-Korea; 12 Vietnamese reports in 2 subcommittee sessions, along with 165 FCE student reports in the form of posters. At the Conference, researchers exchanged opinions and discussed issues related to the reports.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, the quality of the reports this year was outstanding, despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the great results of the Conference were very impressive. He also expressed his sincere thanks to the Board of Directors, the FCE, and foreign researchers who attended the Conference, as well as Ajinomoto Vietnam, Beta Technology Ltd, and the Chemical Society of Ho Chi Minh City, who were the main sponsors of the Conference.
The Faculty of Chemical Engineer is one of the first departments at IUH to receive the AUN-QA standard. This is also the leading unit in scientific research in the whole school in terms of the number of articles and scientific research works. In 2019, FCE had 44 articles published in journals with ISI index; by July 2020, there were 55 articles.
