IUH’s delegation visited and sought cooperative potentials with Lao PDR partners 28-05-2019

In order to enhance cooperation with Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) partners, the delegation of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), headed by IUH’s Party Committee Secretary, President, Dr. Nguyen Thien Tue, visited Lao PDR from May 21, 2019 to May 26, 2019 and had discussion with the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Sports, MOES), the Department of Innovation (Ministry of Science and Technology), the National University Of Laos (NUOL), and the Souphanouvong University. The delegation includes Dr. Phan Hong Hai, Vice President and leaders from some academic faculties, functional offices, and institutes of IUH.

1. Meeting with the Department of Higher Education, MOES:

Dr Khamphao Chanphengxay and Mr Seng Xiongchunou, the two Deputy Director General of the Department of Higher Education, MOES together with some directors of the Department had meeting with IUH’s delegation. Both sides had discussion and sharing on experience of training and international cooperation. IUH will provide 40 scholarships for Lao’s students selected by the Department of Higher Education to study at IUH. On the other hand, the Department of Higher Education had sharing experience of implementation of international projects supported by ADB and called for cooperation from IUH in future. The representatives of the Department also showed a high commitment on supporting and enhancing cooperation with IUH as well as working as a bridge between IUH and Lao’s institution partners.

2. Meeting with the Department of Innovation, MOST:

Mr Soumana Choulamany, Director General, and the three Deputy Director Generals - Mrs Khamnhong Sichanthavong, Mr Vilaysone Bouphalat, and Mr Sengchan Phasayaseng – together with some directors of the Department had meeting with IUH’s delegation. Both sides had discussion and sharing on experience of training and international cooperation. IUH will provide training support for the Department’s staff and design cooperation with the Department (and its stakeholders) in science research and technology transferring in national-level projects and international affairs.

3. Meeting with the Souphanouvong University:

At the Souphanouvong University, IUH’s delegation had meeting with the President, Assoc. Prof. Dr Khamphay Sisavanh, together with some deans and directors of the university. Both sides had discussion and sharing on experience of training activities, research performance, curriculum design, staff development, and student exchange programs.  The deans and directors of both sides had discussion in details to each other on matters concerning training, research and staff/student exchange. A mutually cooperative agreement was signed on the day to set up a relationship and cooperation in areas of training, scientific research, staff development, curriculum design and student exchange programs.

4. Meeting with the Laos National University:

At the Laos National University (NUOL), IUH’s delegation had meeting with the President, Prof. Dr Somsy Gnophanxay, together with some deans and directors of NUOL. Both sides had discussion and proposing cooperative potentials in training, scientific research, student exchange, and international accreditation. The deans and directors of both sides had discussion in details to each other on cooperation programs. Both universities agreed the cooperation in the near future in areas of training, scientific research, staff/student exchange, and accreditation.

On the occasion of visiting Lao PDR, IUH’s delegation also paid a visit to some Colleges such as The Polytechnic College and The Lao-German Technical College. IUH will provide scholarships for the staff of the two colleges.
