What do graduates of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy do after graduation? 29-06-2023
The increasing electricity consumption, along with the structural shift from traditional energy to renewable energy, has made the demand for human resources increase sharply in recent years. Therefore, renewable energy is becoming a field of interest for many young people.
The Importance of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy
In the current context when fossil fuel sources are gradually exhausted and replaced by renewable energy sources (including solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy...), this energy source has become one of the issues of great concern in Vietnam in particular and in the world in general.
In Vietnam, due to its long coastline, tropical monsoon climate, strong agricultural economy, there are diverse and abundant conditions for exploitation and production of wind power, solar power, and biofuels. In the Vietnam Industrial Development Strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2035, renewable energy is identified as one of three areas given special priority by the Government. Therefore, the demand for qualified human resources in the field of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy is increasing.
Mr. Doan Van Hien - Deputy General Director of ABB Vietnam said: The electricity distribution network is facing new challenges due to new trends such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, digitalization and urbanization. This raises a new set of challenges for the next generation of engineers, who need to understand this rapidly evolving landscape.
What do majors in the Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy at IUH study?
The highlight of the program at IUH is the training that closely follows the actual recruitment needs of businesses. The university has built close cooperation relationships with prestigious domestic and international organizations in the field of electricity such as Go Vap Power Company, ABB Vietnam Group, Phong Phu Composite Cabinet Company, Bien Dong Automatic Electrical Technology Engineering Company Limited (ESTEC), Ca Mau Nitrogen Gas and Power Company, to give students the opportunity to be exposed to, access to new technologies and new knowledge in the field of energy while still in school.
With the motto of teaching that integrates theory into practice, facilities are also invested by IUH. The Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City is the first university in Vietnam to bring a smart grid laboratory for teaching and research for lecturers and students in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Control and Automation.
Industrial University of Ho CHi Minh Cityis the first training unit to have a Smart Grids key laboratory in Vietnam.
"In addition to building training programs suitable to social needs, the Faculty of Electrical Technology also focuses on building modern facilities to serve the teaching at the faculty. The operation of the smart grid laboratory will help improve knowledge and skills for students in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Control and Automation," said Dr. Tran Thanh Ngoc – Dean of IUH Faculty of Electrical Technology.
What do graduates of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy do after graduation?
The energy sector, both globally and specifically in Vietnam, consistently experiences a "thirst" for skilled professionals, presenting abundant career prospects for Electrical Engineering Engineers and Renewable Energy Engineers:
- Incorporating power plants, power transmission and distribution firms, consultancy agencies, and the design and installation of electrical systems, and renewable energy solutions.
- State agencies in the field of energy management and use; NGOs related to the field of renewable energy, sustainable development.
- Universities, institutes and research centers such as Vietnam Energy Consultancy Center (VECC), Institute of Energy Science, Research Institute of Electronics, Informatics, Automation ...
Developing renewable energy sources is an inevitable trend around the world today. Therefore, Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy will be a suitable choice for the labor market in the near future.
